Lufthansa Miles & More: new cooperation with award winning Lambouri Winery, Cyprus
More benefits for members of the airline’s frequent flier programme - Lambouri wines can be purchased with collected miles
Lufthansa German Airlines will offer new benefits for its frequent fliers. The airline announced in October 2007 that members of Lufthansa Miles & More, the airline’s frequent flier programme, can purchase as of October 1st wines of Lambouri Winery, Cyprus’ first luxury boutique winery.
“Lufthansa intends to offer a wide range of services and products for its customers and Miles & More members”, Kathrin Pfeiler, Lufthansa General Manager for Cyprus said. “With this new partnership Lufthansa Miles & More members have now the option to also purchase a local high quality product with their collected miles”.
In October 2006, Lambouri Winery's ‘Cabernet Sauvignon 2000’ and ‘Chardonnay Fume 2001’ won the SEAL OF APPROVAL appreciation in Vienna, Austria at “awc-vienna”, the second largest international wine competition. These award winning wines are now available for only 3,414 miles each at the winery, online and on premises. When redeeming miles, a minimum of 7,500 miles is required.
During the previous years, the number of Miles & More members has steadily increased in Cyprus, with more than 32.000 members enrolling in the programme.
On a worldwide level, Lufthansa Miles & More has more than 14 million members. It is one of the most attractive frequent flier programmes. Miles can be earned and redeemed by flying Lufthansa and its partner airlines, by using partner services, such as hotels or car rentals or by shopping at Lufthansa’s World Shop. Lambouri Winery, with a 300 year old tradition of wine making, re-emerged in 2006 as Cyprus’ first luxury boutique winery. The winery made substantial investments in highly specialised and customised equipment, including horizontal fermentors, which are unique to Cyprus. The Lambouri wine list includes Muscat and Sweet Reds, local Xynisteri, Mavro,
Rosé, Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay, organic wines and the legendary Maratheftico. The total wine production is limited to 75,000 bottles, ensuring the highest quality possible.
In 2007, Lufthansa chose the award winning Lambouri ‘Cabernet Sauvignon 2000’ as the exclusive wine to commemorate its 25th anniversary of service to Cyprus. Lambouri Winery and Lufthansa created a custom-designed limited edition label for this wine.
